Security forces in Saudi Arabia on Sunday foiled an attempted terror attack on an office of state security north of the kingdom’s capital, Al Arabia news channel reported.
The Initial reports indicated that security forces had killed four armed men as they attempted to storm a building described as an investigation center of the General Directorate of Public Security in the town of Al Zulfi some 250 kilometers north of Riyadh.
Al Arabiya says that the four men were armed with assault rifles, explosives, and Molotov cocktails.
There was no indication who the suspects were and no group has claimed responsibility for the attempted attack.
Two weeks ago, Saudi security forces killed two men and arrested two others as they attempted to flee the country and threw explosives at a police checkpoint in the process. Three of the four men were wanted by authorities. Two officers were wounded in the attack in eastern Saudi’s Abu Hadariya province.
