Ronaldo has warned Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho that Barcelona “treat Brazilians badly”.
The legendary striker spent just one season at the Camp Nou in the mid-90s before moving on to Inter in Italy. He later enjoyed a much happier spell at Barca’s arch rivals Real Madrid.
“I felt much more happy and more connected to Real Madrid, despite having lived a great year in Barcelona,” Ronaldo told Esporte Interativo.
“In the end, my history with Barca was very bad, similar to the one Neymar had.
“Barcelona has always had issues with Brazilian players: Neymar, Romario, Ronaldinho and me.
“We were all treated badly by the club in the end, despite all our contributions and dedication.”
Coutinho tried to force through a move to Barca last summer but Liverpool rejected his transfer request and turned down three bids.
They are braced for another approach in the January window for a player who is enjoying the most productive spell of his Anfield career. Coutinho has netted seven goals in his last seven appearances.
